Thea Smith was selected runner-up in the Accounting Star Student Contest from many outstanding students by judges John Sensiba from Ireland San Filippo, Mala Butani from Kaiser Permanente, and AJ Major of Vavrinek, Trine, Day & Co. Thea, an accounting student at California State University, East Bay, impressed the judges with her leadership skills, work experience and more. She is an extremely committed, focused, and organized individual with pride in being direct, spontaneous, communicative, and hard-working. I had the privilege of interviewing her about her motives, goals, and ambitions.
1. What are your career dreams and ambitions and why?
Thea’s goals are to complete her CPA Degree, get her Master’s degree, and receive a position in an international accounting firm. Her main interest is hotel management because she enjoys taking care of people and making sure everyone is happy. With her meticulous nature and high standards, she is the perfect person for this job! She was inspired by her mom who hopes to own a bed and breakfast as well as a friend who is a hotel manager.
2. What are some of the top companies you would like to work for?
She is very interested in working for Ireland San Filippo company as exposed during the Accounting contest as well as PriceWaterhouseCoopers and Deloitte.
